GST registration is mandatory for businesses that meet certain criteria set by the government. It allows businesses to collect tax from customers and claim input tax credit on taxes paid on purchases.

Turnover Limit for GST Registration:

– For goods: ₹40 lakhs (in most states).

– For services: ₹20 lakhs (in most states).

– Special categories like North Eastern states have a lower limit of ₹10 lakhs.

– For interstate supply of goods, registration is mandatory regardless of turnover.

Documents Required for GST Registration:

– PAN Card of the business or applicant.

– Aadhaar Card of the authorized signatory.

– Proof of business address (electricity bill, rental agreement, etc.).

– Bank account statement or cancelled cheque. (Optional)

– Photograph of the applicant and authorized signatory.

– Partnership deed (if applicable).

– Certificate of incorporation (for companies) or LLP agreement (for LLPs).
